Are you watching the 'Hair' Factor!!!

It's Official....I love Dannii Minogue! This year's X Factor has delighted us with the oh so 90's antics of Jedward, Stacey Solomon's bewlidered grin, Danyl's 'cocky?! insert your own opinion here' attitude, Olly's inherent talent, and of course THAT public vote!

However..... the only thing on my mind is how amazing does Danni look this year? It seems that Danni has got a brand new do, decided to scrimp on the botox budget this year, well we are in recession,

Dannii said: "I see the comments. Plastic. All Botox. I can see what people see, but I have to say that while I have been open about doing it before Im not doing it now. For The X Factor it is actually quite useful to be able to have facial expressions! There is so much more pressure on women. If you can get older and be happier within yourself, thats the main thing."

and in the opinion of this lowly stylist has knocked Cheryl Cole out of the ring in the style stakes, i know, strong words but do you remember THAT plastic dress?

Now as much as I do love our nation's sweetheart, Mrs Cole's X Factor wardrobe has really not been doing the girl justice, for those you want to know THAT dress was designed by recent St Martins' graduate DAVID KOMA who has also been awarded the HARRODS DESIGN AWARD, meanwhile Miss Minogue has quietly and effortlessly stepped in to fill the void. Dannii's chic blunt cut bob has been making waves in the style pages for being so versatile she's managed to rack up a hefty 21 different styles from it so far! The classic 20's style is proving to be more popular than Chezza's, face of loreal, sleek brown waves and here at Luxe we definitely heart Dannii's new look!

Dannii's cut best suits an oval face shape an
d long 'oblong' face shapes as with these face shapes you can afford to go really angular and sleek with this look, however as Danni has proved there's more than one way to wear this cut. An oval face shape can wear any kind of hairstyle and chin length cuts like Dannii's look fantastic on a longer face shape

If you have a square face shape you could wear this look as Danni demonstrates in a sweeping side bob. Elongate layers around the jawline with a textured finish, avoid a blunt cut, it's all about the natural elegant look.

Or you can wear it textured and choppy with lots of movement giving a really cute look.

If you have a heartshaped face you can wear the look with soft textured ends with a healthy sideswept fringe.

For the more adventurous among you how about having a go at Dannii's Lady GaGa inspired do!

My personal faves of Dannii's array of looks are her super funky, textured quiff and that oh so glamourous Jackie Kennedy Style Blow-Dry! Oh Dannii 'O' we love you so!!!

Going home again....

A couple of weeks ago I went back to my hometown of Worcester for a photo-shoot with photographer Arron Blocksidge, make-up artist Advia and models, Marlena and Jane. We were going for some simple high impact beauty shots and from what I've seen on the camera screen we acheived just that!

One of the Chosen shots

Model - Marlena
Make-Up - Adiva
Hair - Moi
Photography - Arron Blocksidge©

I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished photos, I've got a feeling they're going to look great. I'd love to do some really wacky shoots in 2010 full of hairpeices, wigs and crazy make-up, something really avant-garde. I'm buliding up quite a collection of photos now from various shoots and work, things are looking bright.....

Do you Pre-Fur Faux??

Luxe was very happy today to read today that Myleene Klass and Kelly Brook have opted for Faux Fur to complete their Winter Wardrobe and I think they look just fabulous!! It seems these savvy ladies have realised that not only is Faux a fraction of the cost of the real thing but it comes at a price your conscience will be happy with.

Did you know to make one fur coat, it can take 60 Minks or 200 Chinchillas or 20 foxes or even 100 hamsters, yes that's right, hamsters. Presuming the fur you wear is even from the animal it is claimed to belong to (Asia has a thriving dog and cat fur trade and most of the fur is mis-labelled as Rabbit or not labelled at all) that's a lot of dead animals to be wearing and possibly a few highly treasured pets. Did you hear that Kate Moss??

Furriers have recently taken to convincing consumers that animal pelts are ''eco-friendly'' which couldn't be further from the truth. It takes 15 times more energy to produce a fur garment than to produce faux not to mention being loaded with chemicals to stop the dead animal from rotting in your closet. Nice.

Save your conscience, Save the animals, save your Money, Buy Faux for fashion forward living this Winter.

I recently worked on a photo-shoot with Peter Hirst of Gainsborough Park Photography and a model Chaynelle. We worked on photos for submission to a caribbean themed magazine. We wanted a natural look and emphasise Chaynelle's natural glow and delicate skin. Click Here to view Peter Hirst's website!

I used an oil free primer from Laura Mercier on lightly cleansed skin. I used a shine highlighter on Chaynelle's browbones, cheekbones and down the centre of her nose. I always find it easier to blend highlighter with the pads of my fingers as the warmth encourages the product to glide smoothly and effortlessly. This method ensures that blending is thorough and won't clog with your foundation and powder. I then used a light foundation from Elizabeth Arden blended with a square foundation brush and dappled with a natural sponge. To set the look for the shoot I dusted a finishing powder over the face.

To finish I used a simple coral blush with a deeper bronze high on the temples and a slate shadow on Chaynelle's eyelids with a fine stroke on liner and mascara. And of course lashings of lipgloss. Gorgeous. The photos look amazing and I can't wait to see them in the magazine!!!

That's all for today folks!!!

Be beautiful.....Yvette xoxo
